Changes in voter lists to be verified
Incharge Collector M Venugopal Reddy has said that changes made in the voters lists in all polling booths would be scrutinized on February 23 and 24
Eluru: In-charge Collector M Venugopal Reddy has said that changes made in the voters’ lists in all polling booths would be scrutinized on February 23 and 24.
He was participating in a video-conference with Election Returning Officers and assistant election returning officers from the Collectorate here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the in-charge Collector said that the effort of the district administration would be to avoid deletion of voters’ names belonging to eligible candidates. At the same time, effort would be made to make list free from non-existing voters.
The booth-level officials should register particulars of requests for changes in the voter list along with action taken. Even the names of deceased voters should be deleted only after completing the process of field level verification, he clarified.
All pending claims on voter list should be addressed and posted online by February 25. The requests received through the toll free number ‘1950’ should also be addressed before the due date.
During the verification, applications and registers would be verified. The booth-level officers concerned should keep the records ready at the time of verification, he added.
