Kadapa: Kurnool Range DIG D Nagendra Kumar has warned of stringent action against those who are in possession of illegal weapons during the elections. He oversaw the crushing of 1,219 country-made guns and revolvers which were seized from 1987 to 2009 here on Friday.

He directed the police officials to identify sensitive and hyper sensitive villages in the district and recover unlicensed weapons. The DIG made an appeal to hand over unlicensed weapons voluntarily to police.

The crushed weapons were buried in the presence of revenue officials. District SP Rahul Dev Sharma, ASP Srinivasulu Reddy and other officials were present.
