Visakhapatnam: Director General of Police (DGP) R P Thakur on Saturday inaugurated the new police station constructed at a cost of Rs 1.45 crore with advanced technology at Pothinamallayyapalem.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that the government was committed to upgrade all the police stations with advanced technology across the state. The Pothinamallayyapalem police station on the outskirts of the city was developed by using advanced technologies.

All the police stations in the city would be developed as a model stations, he said and added once upgraded with technology support, the information about the crimes would be available from constable to DGP. As part of police reforms, the police stations would be emerged as a service centres, the DGP said.

With the support of command controls, every area in the city would be monitored by the senior officers and any crime/accident, within no time, the senior officials would swing into action, the DGP said.

Vizag Range DIG S Paulraj, Collector K Bhaskar, VMRDA Commissioner Basanth Kumar and several other senior officials were present.
