Launched in October, 2014, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is already among the top-selling mid-sized sedans in the country. And to further increase its sales, the company is all set to launch a mild hybrid diesel version of the vehicle in the country. In fact, the Ciaz SHVS demo cars have already reached Maruti Suzuki dealerships and some dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the car.

To be called Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki), the new version will get a larger capacity battery, integrated starter generator and start-stop technology that will help it return better mileage. As against the current diesel model's ARAI certified 26.21km/l, the Ciaz SHVS will return over 30km/l.

Suzuki's new mild hybrid system incorporating an ISG (integrated starter generator), provides engine power assistance using the motor and achieves efficient power regeneration. Coupled with ISG, this braking system also aids in the engine start-stop technology that automatically stops the engine at a traffic light and start upon releasing the clutch.

Besides the SHVS mild hybrid system, Maruti Suzuki will also offer driver-side airbag across all Ciaz variants. While from the V(O), the Ciaz will get dual airbags, Anti-lockig braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) system as standard feature.
