Porsche has launched a special edition of the Cayman and it has been called the Black Edition. This comes after the German manufacturer launched the Boxster and the 911 Carrera editions.

The Cayman Black Edition is powered by a 2.7 litre, flat six petrol engine producing 275 bhp at 7,400 rpm and 290 Nm of torque between 4,500 rpm and 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed PDK automatic gearbox and power is sent to the rear wheels.

The manual car accelerates from a stand still to a 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 266 kmph. It returns 11.9 kms to a litre of fuel. The PDK car accelerates from a stand still to a 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 264 kmph. It returns 12.65 kms to a litre of fuel.

The base Cayman, on which the Black edition is based, is not available in India. The Black edition has been priced at $59,200 for which the deliveries will begin in January next year. In India, the Cayman starts at Rs 1.05 crore and goes up to Rs 1.18 crore.
