Chrysler planning made in India jeep luxury compact SUV

The product strategy also includes a made-in-India Jeep luxury compact SUV.Talking to Economic Times on the sidelines of 2016 Auto Expo, Kevin Flynn, MD, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) APAC, stated that the company is working hard on a next gen product lineup for India. The top official is confident that the strategy would start attaining fruition in the next two years.

Fiat India has launched the Punto Pure, the older version of Punto, to create a new entry level price point. The automaker would go on to launch the Linea 125S in the coming months and the Avventura Urban Cross towards the third quarter of 2016. The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler too will be launched in India this year.

The year 2017 will see the first made-in-India Jeep (C-SUV) to roll out of the Ranjangaon facility. FCA had announced an investment of USD 280 million to prepare the plant for the new luxury compact SUV. We can also expect replacements for Fiat Linea and Punto to be in place subsequently. We hope that Fiat India decides to replace the duo with the new Egea sedan and hatchback respectively.

Mr. Flynn stated that every segment and what works within the segment has been mapped and inputs from dealers have also been included to finalize the product strategy.
