Tork Motorcycles has announced its first electric two-wheeler will be unveiled towards the end of this year. The Pune based startup has been working on its maiden venture the T6X electric motorcycle, which also be the first all-electric motorcycle produced in India. The announcement comes days after the company received funding from several investors of an undisclosed amount.

In terms of specifications, Tork Motorcycles claims that the T6X will have a range of 100 km on a single charge and will come equipped with features like cloud connectivity, phone charging as well as GPS. The all-digital display unit will be providing the relevant information to the rider, while also showing diagnostics and maintenance details. The cloud connectivity feature will also provide details about the nearest charging station, the company promises.

Tork Motorcycles couldn’t have chosen a better time to kick start the project as rising public concern over the pollution caused by internal combustion powered vehicles has brought in various government initiatives such as NEMMP 2020 (National Electric Mobility Plan) and FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India) to boost innovation and interest in electric vehicles in the country.

“Electric vehicles are the future. Drop in battery prices, rising sensitivity around emissions and government’s focus on the sector will fuel demand in India,” added Harpreet Grover, Co-founder & CEO, Cocubes.
