BR-V's 6-speed MT for Honda City petrol
The new transmission is expected to increase the car’s ARAI rated fuel efficiency.The Honda City petrol variant is reported to ditch the current 5-speed manual gearbox in favor of a newer 6-speed manual unit which made its debut on the BR-V petrol. The motor is not likely to undergo any modifications.

The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which currently belts out 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque has been serving the City for nearly a decade now. The petrol motor has earned accolades for its refinement, fuel efficiency and performance.
The 1.5L i-VTEC + 6MT combo debuted in the recently launched BR-V.
The addition of another gear ratio is expected to make the Honda City petrol more fuel efficient. The additional overdrive will also make the popular C-Segment sedan a better highway cruiser. The car will continue to offer an optional CVT with paddle shifters.
The new transmission is expected to come on board sometime in the festive season to provide a spurt in sales. As of now, the City has surrendered the leadership crown to the Maruti Ciaz. Apart from the Ciaz, the City competes with the likes of VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, and Nissan Sunny.The City is currently lagging behind Ciaz in terms of monthly sales.
The City diesel which is powered by a 100 PS 1.5-litre engine already employs a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Honda is also readying a facelifted version of the City whose launch is likely to coincide with the introduction of next gen Hyundai Verna in India.
