Ford finally decided to offer the Mustang in RHD configuration, thereby ending the Indian enthusiasts’ five-decade wait. It’s unclear how many RHD Mustang GT’s have been allotted for the Indian market initially but the fact that they are sold out says that the car is an effective brand shaper for Ford in India. Prospective buyers who were late to react to the new sportscar’s arrival may have to wait for several months to welcome their steeds home.

The sixth generation Mustang is imported into India as a CBU. At INR 65 lakhs (ex-showroom), the V8 engined pony car has not real rival in the Indian market.

Available only in the top-end GT avatar, the India-spec Mustang packs a naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine which displaces 5.0-litre. The motor is tuned to deliver 401 PS and 515 Nm of torque. The drive is sent to rear wheels via a 6-speed SelectShift dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
