As a part of the build up to Skoda Kodiaq’s world premiere in Berlin on Sept 1, the company has been teasing a camouflaged version through images and videos. The latest video shows the Czech automaker’s flagship SUV in action.

Skoda’s first 7-seat production crossover is seen taking on gravel tracks, undulated terrain and even rocks without a fuss. The premium SUV would be boasting of good off-road mannerisms.

Based on the MQB platform that also underpins the Superb, the Kodiaq is named after the Alaskan bear. The SUV will be positioned above the Yeti and will be offered with three turbocharged TSI petrol engines and two TDi diesel engines. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer. Higher variants will feature AWD system.

More details of the powertrains and dimensions will be revealed at the time of unveiling. The Kodiaq is essentially a watered down version of the VisonS design concept that was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. If the concept’s interior is anything to go by, expect the Kodiaq to set a new design direction for the future Skoda products to follow.

Equipment wise, the new Skoda SUV is expected to be similar to that of the Superb sedan. The Skoda Kodiaq is expected to go on sale in Europe sometime in early 2017. We expect the Toyota Fortuner rival to make it to India via CKD route towards the end of next year.
