Maruti Suzuki sales in the UV segment during July 2016 have far exceeded that of Mahindra and Mahindra. Maruti Suzuki UV sales stood at 17,382 units during the past month as against 15,962 units sold by Mahindra. It was overwhelming response by buyers to two of Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza that allowed the company to achieve these results.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ertiga have clocked increased sales. While the Vitara Brezza, launched in March 2016, clocked total sales of 10,232 units during the past month, demand for the Ertiga also saw notable increase. These sales figures were particularly noteworthy specially considering Vitara Brezza is now the best selling SUV in the country.

Maruti Vitara Brezza has already garnered over 1 lakh bookings to date, because of which its waiting period has increased to 8 months in some cases.

In July 2016, 7,981 units of Hyundai Creta, 4,885 units of Ford EcoSport and 1,625 units of Renault Duster were sold.

Taking cumulative sales of utility vehicles during the period April to July 2016 into account, Mahindra and Mahindra sold 71,871 units as against 56,730 units of UVs sold by Maruti Suzuki during the same period. Total Vitara Brezza’s sold during the same period stood at 31,937 units ahead of the Hyundai Creta of which 30,638 units were sold. Thanks to this overwhelming response to the new Brezza company’s market share in the UV segment has increased to 22.8% in April to July 2016 as against market share of 12.2% during the same period in 2015.
