Will your neighbour be able to tell if you've bought the top-spec Tata Harrier or not?
The Harrier looks a lot more premium from the XT variant onwards.
The XE and XM variants do seem to cut some corners.
A total of five colour options are available to choose from, but a majority might find the Harrier most appealing in the Calisto Copper colour.
The Tata Harrier’s prices start at Rs 12.69 lakh and go up to Rs 16.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At this price point, it goes up against SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and even the Renault Captur. Let’s see how different the Tata Harrier’s lower variants look from the top-spec on the inside and out.
Tata Harrier XE (Price: 12.69 Lakh)
The base variant of the Harrier is easy to distinguish since it only comes in the Orcus White colour. Halogen projector headlamps with DRLs that double up as turn indicators are standard fitment. Black side cladding is also on offer, irrespective of the variant chosen. The base-spec Harrier gets 16-inch steel wheels, black door handles and ORVMs.
So, while the Harrier looks good from the front, it’s the side, from where the base variant looks stripped. At the rear, it gets LED tail lights with a blacked-out rear bumper.
On the inside, it feels very basic and gets an all-black monotonous layout. Audio duties are handled by a 2-DIN unit with Bluetooth, USB and AUX-in connectivity. The only contrasting bits inside the cabin are the light-coloured inserts on the steering wheel.
Tata Harrier XM (13.75 lakh)
This variant is available in all, but the Calisto Copper and Orcus White exterior colours. It gets front fog lamps, but that’s the only change up front when you compare it with the Harrier XE. The side profile, though, continues to remain the same as the XE variant. The rear end of the XM variant can be distinguished, though, thanks to the addition of a wiper and washer.
Changes on the inside are more apparent and include a 7-inch touchscreen unit and steering integrated controls. And then, there are silver inserts which run along the bottom of the dashboard and on the door panels.
Tata Harrier XT (Rs 14.95 lakh)
This variant looks significantly more upmarket and can be had in all the colors except the Orcus White. The Tata Harrier XT gets LED DRLs, body coloured ORVMs, door handles and 17-inch alloy wheels.
It feels plush on the inside too with soft touch Nappa grain leather material on top of the dashboard and wooden finish in the middle.
Adding to the appeal are the auto climate control buttons below the touchscreen which replace the ungainly knobs. The stowage area in the central tunnel ahead of the gear lever is also lighter coloured and feels more premium. Rear passengers also get an armrest with cupholders in the center.
Tata Harrier XZ (Rs 16.25 lakh)
The top-spec Harrier gains some neat touches on the outside and will turn heads when you turn up in one. The rear skid plate gets silver accents as well. At night, you can also see puddle lamps on the outside rearview mirror.
It gets Xenon HID projector headlamps and fog lamps with cornering function, shark fin antenna and a neat chrome strip which runs from the A-pillar along the top of the window line and merges into the kink of the C-pillar.
Step inside and you’re treated to tastefully laid out Signature Oak brown colour leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and a bigger 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is accompanied by a 9-speaker JBL audio unit with Amplifier. The smaller instrument cluster of the other variants is replaced here by a 7-inch colour TFT display.
We all know that the top-spec variant of the Tata Harrier will the look the best, but which of these appeals to your taste? Let us know in the comment section below.
