Hybrid turmeric touches Rs 10,000 a quintal

Erode (PTI): Prices of hybrid variety of turmeric touched Rs 10,000 per quintal at the markets here today, which opened after a ten-day holiday for a local temple festival, trade sources said.

The turmeric exporters those who received Delhi orders purchased all the hybrid variety by quoting increased competitive price of `10000 a quintal. The other local varieties fetched a maximum price of `7900 a quintal, which is `300 a quintal more than Monday price, sources said.

At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, the finger variety was sold at `4559 to `7959 a quintal and root variety `4096 to `6736 a quintal.
