Hyderabad: Intex Technologies, a leading mobile handset maker, on Monday said it was looking to double revenues from the handset sales to Rs 8,000 crore during the current fiscal. The company roped in film actor Mahesh Babu as brand ambassador for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markets.

“Mobile handset sales account for 75 to 80 per cent of our total revenues. We are targeting Rs 8,000 crore from mobile handset sales this fiscal,” Keshav Bansal, Director, Intex Technologies, told media here after announcing Mahesh Babu as brand ambassador.
The company is planning to spend Rs 300 crore for marketing activities this fiscal and nearly 85 per cent of the investment will go into mobile business. Bansal further said that the company would invest Rs 1,500 crore in an upcoming plant at Greater Noida, and also on research and development in the next three years.
Currently, the company has four manufacturing facilities and expects to roll out smart phones from its Greater Noida plant in the next three to four months. The capacity of the plant would be 3.5 to 4 million handsets per month.
On this occasion, the company also launched Intex Aqua Trend smartphone, priced at Rs 9,444. The 4G-enabled device is based on Android OS 5.1 platform and comes with 3000 mAh battery.
