Mukkamala Giridhara Gopal assumed office as the 23rd Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirumala Devasthanams (TTD) on Saturday. Earlier the outgoing Executive Officer LV Subramanyam handed over the charges to MG Gopal in Ranganayakula Mandapam during wee hours at 4.14am after having darshan of Lord Venkateswara.
Later the Joint Executive Officer of Tirumala, K S Sreenivasa Raju has administered the oath of office and secrecy to MG Gopal in front of presiding deity. After taking over the charges as the Executive Officer and ex-officio board member of TTD Trust board, MG Gopal along with his family members was rendered Veda Asirvachanam by Vedic Pundits in Ranganayakula Mandapam.
Gopichand gets 'Super' VVIP treatment In an extraordinary move, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) authorities have allowed the Shuttle badminton ace Pullela Gopichand and his family members to have special darshan of the Lord on Saturday even after the VVIP break darshan was cancelled for the day due to rush of devotees.
Earlier on Friday, the TTD Jt. Executive Officer Srinivas Raju announced that there would be no VVIP break darshan on Saturday in view of the Sahasra Kalasabhishekham of the Lord and the rush of devotees. Traditionally, Sahasra Kalasabhishekham was conducted without the presence of the devotees. Only temple priests, TTD officials and staff were allowed.
After the darshan, Gopichand and his family waited for more than one and half hour in Ranganayakula Mandapam to receive Vedic blessings from the priests as the priests refused to bless them before blessing the new TTD Executive Officer M G Gopal who took charge few hours earlier.
The Jt. EO Srinivas Raju without any provocation told the media persons present there that he had the authority to regulate the darshan of the Lord. When they pointed out that nobody questioned his authority, Srinivas Raju said he was a fan of Gopichand and arranged Vedic blessings at his own cost. He sternly told the media not report the matter. Meanwhile, Pullela Gopichand told the media that he thanked the Lord for making his team successful in all the tournaments in the current year. He said those who were trained in his academy attained success worldwide.
