Mrs Funnybones Twinkle's fitting reply to Naseeruddin comment on Rajesh Khanna
We all are aware of Naseeruddin Shah’s bold personality and he makes sure that he doesn’t indulge himself in mixing up words.
We all are aware of Naseeruddin Shah’s bold personality and he makes sure that he doesn’t indulge himself in mixing up words. He has been a part of controversies time and again because of his interviews which have created hitches and landed him in trouble but nonetheless; Mr. Shah is unapologetic of whatever he believes and freely speaks his mind without fearing any.
But recently in an interview, his gallant indirect statement on Rajesh Khanna being a harbinger of mediocrity in cinema has landed him in trouble. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Naseeruddin Shah said, "It was the 70’s when mediocrity came in Hindi films. That’s when the actor called Rajesh Khanna joined the industry. For all his success, I think Mr Khanna was a very limited actor. In fact, he was a poor actor. Intellectually, he wasn’t the most alert person I have ever met. His taste ruled the industry,” says Shah about Khanna, who gave hits such as Aradhana (1969), Haathi Mere Saathi (1971) and Anand (1971).”
Shah covertly commented on the ‘godly’ status achieved by Rajesh Khanna. He said, ‘‘The quality of script, acting, music and lyrics deteriorated. Colour came in. You could make a heroine wear a purple dress and hero a red shirt, go to Kashmir and make a movie. You didn’t need a story. This trend continued and I certainly think Mr Khanna had something to do with it because he was God in those days.”
Clearly, Twinkle Khanna didn’t take Shah’s comment on her father well which is pretty obvious as a daughter no matter what will always defend her father. She took to Twitter to share her discontent and resentment against Shah’s insensitive remarks. She tweeted:
Sir if u can't respect the living ,respect the dead-mediocrity is attacking a man who can't respond @NaseerudinShah https://t.co/4EdyWmwiNj

Karan Johar, Filmaker and Twinkle Khanna’s very close acquaintance too expressed his displeasure on Shah’s comments. Supporting Twinkle’s comment, he tweeted:
I agree with you @mrsfunnybones...due respect to seniority but this was in exceptionally bad taste and not becoming of a fraternity member..

Wonder how Naseeruddin Shah took this!
