Tamil actor- producer Vishal, who is also equally popular in the two Telugu states with blockbusters like ‘Pandem Kodi’, ‘Pogaru’ and his last big hit ‘Abhimanyudu’, was arrested in Chennai on Thursday when he tried to open a locked Tamil Film Producers’ Council office in Chennai. He is currently the president of the TFPC and when he reached the location with some of his supporters, he was obstructed by the police. After an alleged argument with them, the actor was taken into preventive custody.

The whole dispute began when another rival faction within the TFPC locked the office and demanded Vishal's resignation. This quarrel was started off because the actor wanted to organise a fund raiser to provide relief for those affected by cyclone Gaja. The decision to hold this event which is touted to rope in musical maestro Ilayaraja was apparently done without the producers’ body's consent. The actor took to Twitter to share the news of his arrest and share his outrage on the matter. He vented out his frustration and said that the police were silent when the office was locked up but when they went to open it, they were arrested. He called the series of events as "unbelievable." However, the 'Sandakozhi 2' actor promised that he would fight back and he and his supporters would ensure that the relief concert is held.

On the other hand, the police who took this action, however, said that it was just a preventive measure to make sure that things don't get out of hand. Meanwhile, the District Registrar has been called for inspection after which any decision will be taken. Vishal, on the professional front, has been distributing the Tamil version of Yash's KGF and has also been vocal about trying to curb online piracy which has lately become a menace in the film industry. His rivals alleged that the ‘Pandem Kodi’ star has reportedly siphoned off funds of the Tamil Producers’ Council and has been conducting operations from a private office instead of the producers’ guild office.
