Auto driver of a different kind

Chennur (Manchiryal): An auto driver, Vemula Mohan Goud, of Narsingapur village in Jaipur mandal of Manchiryal district, despite having education of only up to ninth class, is fast turning to be a pacesetter. Without any formal training, he has become a good mechanic.
With sound knowledge and common sense, Goud is able to attend to repairs of not only his own auto, but also helping two-wheeler riders to solve their problems by offering repair services to their vehicles, of course after collecting only token charges. Such actions of Goud have brought him a good name in the adjoining villages and help overcome poverty.
With drive to secure a special identity for him, he has been conducting novel experiments like converting a disused motorcycle for operating engines of a pump set in his farm utilising petrol, after making suitable changes in the vehicle. He also modernised an old auto for operating the pump set engine with low consumption of diesel, when facing power problems.
With his experiments turning out to be successful, Goud is exploring newer realms. Now he is able to operate a flour mill (‘pindi girni’) by utilising the same auto without making use of power and generator. He has fixed the centre’s belt to a rear wheel of the auto, starting of which will ensure the running of the centre. With a litre of diesel, Goud is able to grind ten kg of ‘atta’, as it works faster that one being run with power supply.
Goud told The Hans India that he was able to earn more operating the flour centre, even when there was no power supply and with low investment. The villagers are amazed by the successful experiments being conducted by this genial auto driver. They want the State government to provide encouragement to Goud to enable him to come out with more novel initiatives/experiments.
