The incident came to light after the minor girl narrated the ordeal to her family after she returned to her home on Wednesday.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family of Talabkatta, the Bhavaninagar police on Thursday arrested the minor girl’s boyfriend for the alleged act of raping the girl on the pretext of marrying her. Two other minors and a 20-year-old man of Old City area were also held for sexually assaulting the minor girl on different occasions. The accused persons have been remanded to police custody.

The police said following the victim’s statements through a woman police officer and video recording, a team under S Sai Krishna, ACP Santoshnagar and K Srinivasa Rao, inspector, Bhavaninagar police station was formed and rounded up Md Salman from Fateh Darwaza, and three minors from Errakunta and Charminar bus stop and started interrogating them.

“On December 14, the victim’s boyfriend called her at a place near Pahadi Shareef on the pretext of marrying her. He and his friend then raped the victim and dropped her at Chandrayangutta bus stop. Unable to find her way home, the stranded victim was approached by a boy who promised to drop her at Talabkatta.

But even he took her to his friend’s place at Fateh Darwaza by an auto and sexually assaulted her. Later, he introduced her to one, Salman, 20, who also exploited the minor by confining her to three days at his place from December 14 to 17,” said Shiva Prasad, Joint Commissioner of Police, City Security Wing.

The family had initially lodged a missing complaint but now the police have altered it to Sections 366, 376 of the IPC, Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act 2012 and Nirbhaya Act 2013. They will be produced in court for judicial custody on Friday.
