Housewife succumbs to burn injuries. A 32-year-old housewife succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital here on Sunday morning. She suffered serious burns after her husband allegedly set her ablaze at Isnapur in Patancheru area.
Husband set her ablaze on dowry issue
Hyderabad: A 32-year-old housewife succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital here on Sunday morning. She suffered serious burns after her husband allegedly set her ablaze at Isnapur in Patancheru area. According to police, the victim Varsha Singh was allegedly set ablaze by her husband Preetam Singh on dowry issue on February 5 at their residence in Isnapur.
Varsha married Preetam, an employee of a private firm, on December 10, 2006. However, only three months in to the marriage, the man started harassing her for additional dowry.
A police complaint was lodged in the Saroornagar police station in this regard and later the matter went to court. Preetam expressed regret over his actions and promised the court that he would not mistreat his wife in future. The couple then shifted from Kothapet to Isnapur. Although things went well for a long period, Preetam again started harassing Varsha. On February 5, Preetam had an argument with his wife on the dowry issue and set her on fire.
