1.5 cr cash seized in 2 incidents

Hyderabad: Unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore was seized from two different locations here on Tuesday. Police seized Rs 60.29 lakh unaccounted cash during a vehicle check near RBVR Reddy Women’s College in Narayanaguda. The police intercepted a car (AP 11 AE 0999) in which three persons were carrying a bag containing the cash. The passengers -- Tan Singh, Narendra and Gopal Prajapath -- all residents of Secunderabad area were questioned by the police about the cash. However, they could not produce supporting documents for the cash. The police handed over the amount to the Enforcement Directorate and informed the Income Tax officials for investigation, said GS Daniel Shanti Kumar, SI, Narayanaguda police station. In another incident, election officials attached to the flying squad seized unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 45.4 lakh from one person travelling on a bike near Madina Building under Charminar police station limits. The officials found Md Hanif, 42, in possession of Rs 45.4 lakh. When the squad asked for documents, the man failed to produce any papers relating to the amount. The officials handed over the cash to the Income Tax officials.
