3 arrested on cheating charge

Hyderabad: Punjagutta police on Thursday arrested three persons for allegedly duping 200 employees after collecting money by promising them jobs. According to Punjagutta Inspector B Mansingh, the employees of Gee-Whiz Systems Private Limited, Somajiguda, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the company's directors -- T Satyaram Murthy, 37, and T Amulya, 32 -- and its receptionist Arshiya, 24, had duped them. They alleged that the two directors collected amounts ranging between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh from them promising to provide jobs with high salaries. But they were not paid salaries for the past few months. The directors did not come to the office and remained unavailable for contact.

“They promised to pay Rs 8000 as stipend and after completion of training, Rs 22, 000 as salary. They even assured them that major projects were on the anvil and things would be streamlined,” said one of the employees. Based on the complaint lodged by the victims, a case was booked under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused. The police arrested the three accused persons.
