Woman raped, accused absconding
A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by one A Rajasekhar (22) in a remote area on Tuesday night when she went to answer the nature’s call in Kothakota police limits in the district.
Visakhapatnam: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by one A Rajasekhar (22) in a remote area on Tuesday night when she went to answer the nature’s call in Kothakota police limits in the district.
She was dragged by the accused to a nearby sugarcane field where he allegedly committed the rape. When the victim cried for help, local people rushed to the spot and alerted her relatives. The victim, along with relatives, lodged a police complaint.
Kothakota CI K Venkata Rao said a case was registered. The victim was sent to the government hospital at Narsipatnam for medical examination. He said a team has been deployed to nab the accused, who was claimed to be absconding.
The police said the girl from Ravikamatham mandal had gone to a relative’s house in Kothakota. The incident came to light on Wednesday with the victim’s family lodging the complaint.
