The Task Force (South) police raided a medical shop in Gowliguda area on Wednesday and arrested the owner on charges of selling medicines without prescriptions. Police recovered 76 Fortwin injections, 11 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup, 55 strips of Anximil tablets and DispoVan syringes and needles from his possession.

They found Bikumalla Prakash, 49, owner of Ambica medical and general stores, selling medicines Anximil, Fortwin and Phensedyl without prescription. “He was found to be selling medicines without the mandatory prescription.

The drugs included anti-depressants and those which gave slight intoxication and sedation. Some of the drugs thus sold were habit-forming and dependency-promoting,” police said.
