Suspicions are rife over few more children having been sold from the government-run orphanage of Devarakonda, Sishu Gruha said the police. Sources said that some babies were sold for less than Rs 5,000.


Devarakonda (sub-division) DSP G. Chandra Mohan said that the child rescued was sold by her mother V. Rajita at a village named Chandanpeta. Kamli Bai after her arrest confessed to have sold the child to the couple from Guntur and once the couple was contacted, the baby was rescued, said the DSP.
