Anantapur: Factionalism reared its ugly head in the district once again when the Raptadu mandal convener and YSR Congress Party leader Prasad Reddy (42) was killed brutally in broad daylight at the Tahsildar’s office in Raphtadu by his opponents on Wednesday. He was the former sarpanch. Going into details, Prasad Reddy came to the Tahsildar’s office to obtain permission for sinking a bore well.

As soon as he came, six persons attacked him with hunting knives and inflicted fatal injuries. On coming to know about his death, YSRCP leaders and activists, Prasad Reddy’s friends and relatives stormed the Tahsildar’s office and broke the furniture and window panes. They alleged that the Telugu Desam Party leaders were behind the attack. Prasad is survived by wife and son. His wife is the sarpanch of Prasannayapalli village. The deceased Prasad Reddy, who worked as document writer, was accused in the murder of three persons in 2003.
