The Mahbubnagar police apprehended a bike thief and confiscated 22 bikes worth Rs 8 lakhs from him. Balaraj, a native of Tippaipally of Pebair mandal, is a habituated thief and so far lifted more than 22 bikes from railway stations and bus stands. 

Mahbubnagar: The Mahbubnagar police apprehended a bike thief and confiscated 22 bikes worth Rs 8 lakhs from him. Balaraj, a native of Tippaipally of Pebair mandal, is a habituated thief and so far lifted more than 22 bikes from railway stations and bus stands.

His modus operandi is to target persons who are in a hurry and keep their bikes outside parking places at railway stations and bus stands. With duplicate keys, he breaks open the locks and flee with the bikes.

In another case, the Gadwal police arrested an ATM thief Venkatramulu. He used to befriend people who came to ATMs and approach the customers seeking help. He targeted illiterate ATM users and in the pretext of helping them with withdrawal of money,

he used to take note of the ATM pin from the customers and exchange their ATM cards with similar cards he already had with him. After receiving many complaints from ATM users, the police trapped Venkatramulu and arrested him on Wednesday, according to Vishwaprasad, Superintend of Police, Mahbubnagar.
