Visakhapatnam: The local unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday registered a disproportionate assets case against Circle Inspector of Coastal Security Police, Pudimadaka (Visakhapatnam district), Sheik Hussain, for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

DSP of ACB K Ramakrishna Prasad said his officials seized documents related to properties worth Rs 20 crore as per market value after conducting simultaneous raids at 16 places including Visakhapatnam city, Bengaluru, Vizianagaram and other cities. The DSP said that they seized some documents from the residences of Hussain and his relatives.

The officials also found a lavish house at Timmapuram and house sites in Vizag city in the officer’s name. Hussain is also running a construction company in his children’s name and others. Sheik Hussain joined the police department about 15 years ago and rose to the rank of Inspector and served in various police stations under the Visakhapatnam Police Commissionerate.

He had allegedly accepted huge amounts of money from the fly-by-night chit fund companies during 2011-12 period and from finance firms assuring hassle-free business. Before being posted as Inspector of CSP, Pudimadaka, Hussain served as Inspector of Control Room and he was put on vacancy reserve sometime by the then Commissioner of Police B Shivadhar Reddy.
