Hyderabad: Three constables suffered grievous injuries in a road accident after a police patrolling car in which they were travelling was rammed into a lorry from the rear side at Pedda Amberpet during the early hours on Monday.

At around 3.30 am, the constables Nageshwar Rao, Shekar and Venugopal, who were on night duty, were stationed near Outer Ring Road in Hayathnagar police station limits. Later, they were asked to participate in vehicle checking at Pedda Amberpet.

When they started moving ahead towards the checking point, a speeding lorry hit the patrolling car (TS 09 PA 2290) from rear, crushing the van almost to half. In the accident, constable Venugopal’s left hand fractured and the other two suffered multiple injuries.

“The mobile patrolling team was heading from ORR to Pedda Amberpet when an over speeding lorry rammed from rear. The lorry’s cast that holds the front wheels was separated and the car suffered severe damage.

Due to the impact, the car rammed into another truck moving in front of it,” Hayathnagar SI Manmadha Kumar told the media. A case has been booked and the lorry driver was detained for investigation, the SI added.
