Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police arrested two persons from New Delhi on charges of cheating an unemployed girl of over Rs 4 lakh on the pretext of providing her with a job that offers hefty pay package. The victim is a resident of Hyderabad and has recently completed her engineering.

She received a call on her number from an unknown person who claimed to be a job consultant and informed her that she was selected for the post of General Manager in Deloitte, Hyderabad.

The caller persuaded the girl to deposit about Rs 4.06 lakh for document verification and other processing fees. Meanwhile, an unknown person sent emails to the girl through spoof email id of Deloitte to make the girl believe that she was short-listed for selection.

After a few days, the girl realised that she was duped by the unknown person and lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police. The police registered a case and traced the mobile number and email of the accused to New Delhi and a team rushed there. The team of cyber sleuths apprehended Rishab Suri alias Nonu (21) and Rinku Thakur alias Golu (22) at Ashok Vihar in New Delhi on August 4.

During the arrest of the accused, the team recovered huge quantity of stamp papers of various companies and also fake letter heads of some private banks. The team also recovered three mobile phones, three ATMs, cheque books, one car and a laptop from the accused. They were produced in a local court at New Delhi and were brought to Hyderabad on Tuesday on transit warrant.

Cyber crime inspector Md Riyazuddin said the accused along with another absconding accused, registered themselves as recruiters in various job portals and collected data of the job aspirants.

“The accused used to send emails to aspirants and whenever they received a reply, they used to call and execute their plan. They trapped and cheated several innocent persons across the country and collected huge amounts,” the inspector said.

He said that any person who had fallen into the trap of such fraudsters can approach the police on ‘9490617437’ for necessary action.
