DCTO, GHMC bill collector in ACB net

​Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested a GHMC bill collector and a Deputy Commercial Tax Officer (DCTO) in separate instances in the city for accepting bribe from public.

On Thursday, the sleuths of ACB Hyderabad unit red-handedly caught C Satish, who works as a bill collector in GHMC Circle X (Khairatabad), when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a complainant.

ACB Director General AK Khan said Satish had demanded the bribe for processing tax assessment file pertaining to newly-purchased shop of one A Arvind Arya. The accused was arrested and produced before the ACB court in Hyderabad, he said.

In another instance near Ramoji Film City on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad Highway, Syed Basha Hussain, DCTO, working in Nalgonda district, was caught on Wednesday night when he accepted Rs 1 lakh as bribe from A Anil Kumar to release his granite-loaded lorries.

The lorries were detained at Narketpalli on August 8, and the accused officer had asked the complainant to give bribe in Hyderabad on Wednesday, said DG Khan.
