Chittoor: The police busted an international women trafficking gang and arrested the prime accused and his accomplice at Dasukuppam near Satyavedu.

Among the arrested was A Rafi (41), who is believed to be the kingpin of the racket. According to Chittoor ASP V Ratna, Rafi – a resident of Chennai and his accomplice Pandian Rajan – a resident of Madhurai, were arrested on the charges of traffic women.

Speaking to media persons, here on Wednesday, the ASP said that the prime accused used to lure innocent, poor and helpless from across the country in the pretext of jobs in Malaysia. “He used to send them to Malaysia on tourist visa, where they would be forced into flesh trade in a brothel run by one Dhanu, a middle-aged woman and native of Chennai. He used to sell the girls for Rs 50,000 each,” she added.

Ratna said that Rafi worked as flight tickets agent in Chennai for several years. “He has contacts with brothel houses in Singapore and others countries. His accomplice - Pandian Rajan used to traffic girls to brothel houses in Singapore,” she added.

On Tuesday, the Satyavedu Police nabbed the duo at Dasukuppam and they were produced to the court on Wednesday. The ASP complimented the efforts of Chittoor Mahila DSP Giridhar, Satyavedu circle inspector Narasimhulu, sub inspector Mahesh Yadav for arresting kingpins of the racket.
