Hyderabad: The SHE teams of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate have arrested 26 persons for harassing and teasing women at public places. The SHE teams have registered 14 FIRs and 12 petty cases against eve-teasers during last two weeks under various police station limits. Nine persons have been arrested.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner M M Bhagwat said on Monday the arrested included an advocate of the Hyderabad High Court. The 58-year-old M Chandra Shekar is the resident of Saroornagar. The She teams arrested him based on a complaint that he had been harassing a girl in his neighbourhood.

A 23-year-old man working at a hotel in RK Puram of Nagole was arrested for harassing a widow for past six months. Few days ago, when he found her walking alone, he caught hold of her hand and forced her to board his bike. When the woman denied, he threatened her with dire consequences.

A case was booked against him under sections 509 and 506 of IPC at Uppal police station. He was remanded in judicial custody At Neredmet, one K Johinesh Kumar (22), engineering student, was arrested for harassing a girl, who happened to be his classmate, over phone.

He used to send her abusive messages and was troubling her by making phone calls during the night time. When the girl’s mother warned him, he started abusing her and attempted to outrage the girl’s modesty. Based on the girl’s complaint, the accused was arrested.

The Police Commissioner said one more engineering student, I Pruthviraj (21) of Annojiguda, was arrested under POCSO Act, for cheating a minor girl. A railway employee from Malkajgiri, some students, businessmen and some labourers were also caught for stalking and harassing women and girls.

Some were caught in public places by the decoy teams and some were nabbed based on the complaints received by the victims, said the Police Commissioner.
