Cybercrook held for creating fake Facebook account
Cyber crime police of Rachakonda police on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old man on a charge of creating a fake Facebook account of a 19-year-old woman and posting objectionable content in an apparent attempt to tarnish her image. The arrested person was identified as M Praveen, a resident of Neredmet. Police seized the mobile phone used to take the photos of the woman.
Hyderabad: Cyber crime police of Rachakonda police on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old man on a charge of creating a fake Facebook account of a 19-year-old woman and posting objectionable content in an apparent attempt to tarnish her image.
The arrested person was identified as M Praveen, a resident of Neredmet. Police seized the mobile phone used to take the photos of the woman.
Police said the victim was the colleague of the cybercrook in a shopping mall in LB Nagar. Praveen developed a friendship with the woman and took her pictures by his mobile phone without her knowledge.
About three weeks ago, he showed the pictures to the woman and proposed her for a date. The woman pulled him up and began avoiding. Few days later she quit the job. However, Praveen did not stop there. He tried to contact her over phone. When she did not respond, he opened a Facebook account using her name and the pictures and began sending friend requests, police said.
The victim’s friends responded thinking that it was the woman. Soon, her friends began getting objectionable content which said the victim was in love with Praveen and she would go to any extent to marry him. But the victim came to know about this only when one of her friends met her and discussed her affair, police said.The victim lodged a complaint. Accordingly, police registered a case and arrested the accused
