Hyderabad: The Custom Officers of Air Intelligence Unit at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) seized gold bars and other jewellery worth Rs 32 lakh from passengers arriving from Dubai. On Wednesday morning, they seized 233 grams of gold bars of foreign origin (99.9 per cent purity) and valued at Rs 7 lakh from a passenger who arrived from Dubai by Air India flight 952.

The passenger concealed two gold bars in the pocket of his trousers and was about to pass through exit gate with an intention to evade payment of customs duty when he was caught. On Tuesday night, the Custom Officers seized 466 grams of gold bars valued at Rs 14.21 lakh from a passenger who arrived from Dubai by Fly Emirates Flight.

The passenger concealed gold bars in socks of footwear. On the same day, the officials also seized four silver coated gold kadas and two silver coated gold chains of foreign origin. The 349 grams of gold, which was worth Rs 10.61 lakh was with the woman passenger, who had arrived from Abu Dhabi. She concealed the gold in her garments.
