Hyderabad: The Task Force personnel, in coordination with Chaderghat police on Saturday, raided a godown in Malakpet and seized 1,889 kgs of crackers which were stored without any valid licence.

They also arrested the owner of the godown for dumping fire crackers in residential locality and posing hazard to locals.

According to police, the accused Sanjay Kumar Bhope, 53, proprietor of Shanti Fireworks firm and resident of Judges Colony in Malakpet stored 231 cartons of fire crackers at his godown in residential locality proving hazardous to the residents. “He stored huge quantity of fire crackers in his house without any valid licence from the authorities.

He was selling to customers from his shop. He stored fire crackers in residential area which may cause damage to the lives of the residents if any untoward incident occurs,” said Ch Shashidhar Raju, Additional DCP, Task Force.

In the year 2009, Sanjay Kumar Bhope was arrested by Chaderghat Police in a similar case. The accused along with seized property was handed over to Chaderghat Police station for further action. “The seized fire crackers are being shifted to safe zone from the residential locality,’’ the official said.
