Hyderabad: A tele-caller working for one of the leading mobile service provider was arrested by the police on charges of chain-snatchings. At least 9 cases were booked against the accused under four police stations. Police recovered Rs 4.5 lakh worth gold ornaments from the accused at the time of his arrest.
According to police, the accused identified as Kolachi Farooq (27) and resident of Kakatiya Nagar, Safilguda was wanted by Begumpet, Lalaguda, Tukaramgate and Chilkalguda police stations since 2016 on charges of chain-snatching.
The police recovered 15.5 tolas gold out of the total 18.4 tolas stolen by the accused. “On Saturday, while the Crime Team of Begumpet Police Station was patrolling at R K Jewellers Lane they found a person moving in suspicious circumstances. He tried to flee from the spot, but the policemen in mufti apprehended him and recovered gold chains worth Rs 4.5 lakh,” said B Sumathi, DCP North Zone.
The accused was working for a leading mobile service provider as a tele-caller. “He was addicted to bad vices and alcohol and due to family problems, he started committing the crime from lone women on the streets,” added the official.
