Pharma plant catches fire; four among eight injured critical
Eight workers were injured, four critically, in a fire caused by multiple blasts in reactors in a pharma company – Seutic Pharma Pvt Ltd - in the Jeedimetla industrial area in the early hours of Friday. The fire engulfed the drums loaded with some inflammable material.

The fire engulfed the drums loaded with some inflammable material. “We have heard reports of 10 blasts in a few seconds. The drums were seen flying in the air, emitting toxic fumes,” said Sub-Inspector T Sheshu Babu, who was present at the scene.
The sources said a few seconds before the explosion, workers ran towards the exit sensing something was seriously wrong after listening to the sounds. “If they stayed there, the flames would have claimed them. The injured persons, who received third degree burns, were rushed to the DRDA hospital,” the police said.
As many as six fire extinguishers rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after battling with flames for about an hour.The police are yet to file a case, as the victims were in hospital. “We will register a case as soon as we receive a complaint,” said Jeedimetla Sub-Inspector K Srinivas.
