Hyderabad: With the Medical PG scam fresh in memory and shaking the academic circles, the EAMCET authorities have decided to tighten the screw. “We will now scrutinise every application thoroughly, especially those from other boards. All certificates will be completely examined. More caution is to be exercised with regard to medical applications,” Prof N V Ramana Rao, Convener of EAMCET told The Hans India here on Thursday.

Explaining the steps that have been taken so far, he said, “We asked the students to upload their study certificates from class I to X so that we can examine the career record of each student in a perfect way.”
The officials have kept a tab on all the senior applicants and also suspicious elements, although they did not divulge the details.
A high-tech copying ring was busted in 2010 and 2012 and even last year.
Meanwhile, the number of applicants to EAMCET has crossed 1, 67,000 so far, according to Ramana Rao. Out of them, 1.2 lakh have registered themselves for engineering and 50,000 for medicine. Interestingly, girls outnumber boys in the number of applicants. While 85,000 women candidates have applied so far, boys were slightly behind with 82,000 plus.
