Media magnates are the magnets for politicians and political parties in democratic countries with periodic elections’. Rupert Murdoch is a media magnate. His media empire is spread over Northern America, UK and in Asia including India and China making him a magnet for politicians.

Magnate is a wealthy and powerful person who has dominance in a particular field. Magnate is a tycoon, baron, moghul or mogul, and it informally refers to a fat cat. Traditional magnates are replaced with digital magnates, as well, as a result of internet in the 21st century such as the founders of Facebook, Amazon, Flipkart among others.

Magnetic compass, magnetic field, magnetic mine, magnetic needle, magnetic tape are the compound words formed out of magnetic.

Magnetic mine is area underwater water which can induce explosion of a ship made out of a large mass or iron. Magneto is an electric apparatus that produces sparks of ignition. Cinemas continue to have magnetic appeal among the audience because of their accessibility to masses unlike plays or other art forms.
