Hyderabad: Asmita Lal went on to achieve the 454th rank in UPSC in her third attempt. In her second attempt, she managed to get into Indian Railway Accounts Service and since then she had a strong determination to get into Indian Administrative Service and this time she hopes to make it.

Asmita Lal“In any endeavour we find difficulties and failures; the path towards achieving my goal was certainly not a cakewalk but at the same time with right strategies, concentration and focus it was made possible,” Asmita said defining her path towards achieving the rank.

When asked what is the driving factor for her to pursue this field with this kind of determination, she says “I would want to effect a meaningful change namely in areas like women empowerment, literacy and environment conservation. But mostly importantly make use of the opportunities that come my way to the best of my ability.”

A message to all those who are aspiring to be IAS officers, “I just want to say that whatever it is that you are doing right now be it school or college; it is important to understand and gain an insight into what it is that you have learnt. Be aware and mindful of life in general. The process of this exam transforms you and prepares you which in itself is a treasure.”

She further adds that it is not the number of hours one contributes but the strong foundation that’s built over the years that leads to one’s achievements. “I do not believe in quantifying one’s hard work into number of hours. It not only varies from person to person but the degree of focus as also the foundation one has built through one’s life that matters the most,” she said.
