Fruit vendors stage road blockade

Chilakaluripet (Guntur): Pushcart traders and fruit vendors on Wednesday held a huge demonstration in the town in support of the ongoing Samaikyandhra movement. Later, they formed a human chain and blocked vehicular traffic on National Highway 16. They registered their protest by parading push carts on the highway. The protestors staged a mock slaughtering of a person dressed as Sonia Gandhi. The relay hunger strikes being held at Orange Centre, NRT Centre, Municipal offices continued.

Mangalagiri: Physical Education students of Acharya Nagarjuna University conducted games on National Highway adjacent to the university resenting the division of State. Students played Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Football and other games. They appealed to the political leaders from the region to prevail upon the Centre to keep the State united. They termed the Samaikyandhra agitation as the largest movement after independence struggle. Relay hunger strikes continued for the 24th day in the university.
