Rendered in oil and acrylic on canvas, the paintings of Pran Gopal Ghosh feature various compositions of nature. Titled, ‘Still Alive’ his works are a collection of still life paintings. Pran Gopal Ghosh’s abstract paintings of nature of trees, plants and forest landscapes - are the most straightforward, yet the most lyrical. “Paintings are the reflection of my own mind’-truly the inner mind space is narrated in to the ‘frame’ of my own paintings,” shares Pran.

Talking about his inspiration, “I am into painting since I was a child. When I was young, I used to observe my garden and they reflected in my paintings. Now-a-days, I do visit different forests. Nature and forests are the biggest source of inspiration,” shares Pran. Nature and forest are common subjects and most artists are working on these themes. It’s the representation of the subjects, the composition and balance of colours in his paintings that makes his works different to others.
“I stay in suburbs of Kolkata, which is not surrounded by nature. But I have wonderful images of nature which I recollect. My works resemble my longing for nature in the concrete world,” shares Pran.
His understanding and realisation with nature is coherently enriched. “In case of actual paintings on canvas I start from one stage, applying the colours layer one after another, literally I play with colours to build the painting day by day it goes towards the completion, and reached to another stage. I am happy that some of my experiments with colours touch the heart of viewers with a fine veil of understanding between nature and me. In these series I have exposed my feelings about the nature and seasons, which always moved me a lot,” adds Pran.
Vibrant in colour, distinct in composition and fluidity of the elements, his works will enthral all the nature lovers in the city.
