There was a young hare.

It was very proud of its speed in running.
This hare had a tortoise as friend.
The tortoise, as you know, walks very slowly.
One day, the hare asked his friend, “Shall we run a race?"
The tortoise was wise. He replied, "Why not?”
The two started running.
After running for a time, the hare sat down on the way and thought, “I can beat the tortoise any time!" It went to sleep.
The tortoise, however, moved on slowly, but steadily.
The tortoise had almost reached the goal.
Then the hare awoke. It now ran very fast.
But the tortoise had reached the goal before it woke up.
The hare lost the race.
