The city recently witnessed the NaMo wave when he came down for a rally. But now there is a new kind of NaMo wave that is gripping the city. It is not about a politician or political party. Rather it is the new NaMo Dosa at Haridwar Hotel and Tiffin Centre at Siddiamber Bazaar that is attracting every glutton in the city. This quaint little stall opens at 1pm everyday and dishes out NaMo dosas till 11pm.

NaMo Dosa is the brainchild of its proprietor Sunil Shah, who comes up with a novel dosa flavour every month. This month he chanced upon the Narendra Modi wave. This dosa gets its name from the bright saffron colour it gets due to the sauces and chutney put inside it. Babu Khan, the dosa master, says, “We use schezwan sauce mixed with noodles, onions, tomato puree, assorted vegetables and paneer . We sell close to 50 such dosas every day. There is quite a lot of demand for these dosas.”
This dosa is set at a price of Rs 50. Naveen, a regular customer, said, “I make sure that I indulge in one of these dosas every day. It is affordable and filling at the same time.”
As the shop is located in the vicinity where there is heavy Gujarati and Jain population, the dosa has seen a staunch ‘following’ from the community members.
This is not the first such novel dosa to be cooked up in this tiffin centre. Sunil Shah has been devising his own array of dosas by adding a tinge of current affairs to it since the Kargil War. “During the Kargil War, we started a namesake dosa which was made of oats and other rations that the army men carried with them during war time. We see the various fads that are in the community and develop a dish from it. We also have a Dabangg Dosa as the movie was a blockbuster in the city. We also made a Hyderabad Moti Dosa since the city is famous for its pearls,” said Sunil.
Apart from indulging in NaMo, the stall has also created dosas like Aam Aadmi Dosa, Anna Hazare Dosa, Andhra and Telangana Dosa. Sunil says that once this month is over, they would again eye the rising fad and ideate on the next dosa.
