Renowned designer Ashley Rebello stressed on having creativity and originality among fashion grads

International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD), Himayatnagar, on Thursday cerebrated its graduation ceremony at Moksh, where students of BSc and professional courses in fashion and interior designing were awarded course completion certificates.

Costume designer for Bollywood actor Salman Khan, Ashley Rebello who was the mentor for the INIFD students graced the function.

Harish Kumar, chairman and MD of Neeru’s Group; Suleman Hirani, MD of Darpan Furnishings; and Sanjay Saraswat, director of INIFD graced the ceremony as guests of honour.

Addressing the graduates, Ashley Rebello, who worked on over 60 feature films as a costume designer said, “For the right kind of talent and mindset there are plenty of opportunities in the fashion industry. It is one of the most lucrative, appealing, glamorous and exciting career options in today's world. To excel in this field you need a penchant for creativity, style and originality. For those talented designers, it promises glamour, fame, success and a high pay package.”

Speaking about fashion trends, Ashley said, “Pure fabric, crepe silk, salwar kameez etc are back. The old school of charm is coming back. As far as men are concerned, the casual jackets, semi formals, linen bandhgalas, sleeveless bandhgalas are back with bang.”

“Our aim is to take education in fashion and design to the common man by providing quality design education at an affordable fee,” said Sanajay Saraswat, director of INIFD. The institute has been associated with the Lakme Fashion Week as the official knowledge partner.
