While Facebook and Samsung are racing to be the first to launch their respective virtual reality (VR) products, Indian interior designing firm HomeLane is taking lead by introducing its new Google Cardboard-powered VR headset - Kaleido. Kaleido VR headset provides an immersive VR experience, allowing users to view different designs and looks for their living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms in real time.
During Kaleido's demo, one could view various furnishing options in real time. A three- dimensional rendition of the kitchen that changed finish, colour and chimney size and so on. Customers don't have to wait until they finally see the finished product. The new feature will allow you to see how the finished product will look, before opting for it.
“The new innovation is targeted at the middle class segment. One can get in touch with Homelane and put your choices of flooring, designs, cabinet tops and colors and so on. The company will then set an appointment with the consumer, and offer a demo based on their choice of finish product” says the co-founder and CSMO Rama Harinath.
Kaleido is expected to be an important part of HomeLane.com's 'showroom in a box' philosophy. HomeLane.com offers guaranteed installation in 6 weeks from order date, along with a five-year warranty. Homelane is also planning to add further improvements such as augmented reality. It also plans to ensure that customers do not go over budget. The fixed furniture and home solutions market size is said to be $10 billion in the top 10 Indian cities, and growing at 20 percent CAGR.
