Army demolishes 100-yr old illegal tenements

The Army on Monday demolished five encroached buildings at Tadbund near Military Muthyalamma Temple. Five families living in small dwellings had encroached approximately 156sft each for over 100 years. The Military Station Commander, Secunderabad, had issued an eviction notice to unauthorised occupants in May 1993 and subsequent notices were served from time to time.

The occupants contested the eviction in court and on June 1, the court gave a judgment in favour of the Army. In compliance with the court, the Army demolished the unauthorised tenements and erected a wire mesh fencing to prevent further encroachments.
