A day after shuttler Jwala Gutta championed the ‘Give It Up’ campaign, her peer PV Sindhu hopped on to the bandwagon by appealing to people to give up their LPG subsidy. At a function held at the BPCL Petrol Pump in Khanamet, Sindhu first gave up the subsidy herself and then made an emotional appeal to people to give up their LPG subsidy so that some BPL household could benefit from the scheme.

At a function held at the BPCL Petrol Pump in Khanamet, Sindhu first gave up the subsidy herself and then made an emotional appeal to people to give up their LPG subsidy so that some BPL household could benefit from the scheme.


“People need to come forward and join the movement as only we can make a difference to the lives of all those who do not have LPG connections and cook on polluting fuels like wood, coal, kerosene etc. We have over 130 million homes using such fuels for cooking and these cause indoor pollution and lead to health problems particularly to women and children who are at home,” she said.


Sindhu also felicitated two ‘Give It Up’ champions Luke Livingston and Kartik Prasad who made it possible for two BPL families to receive LPG connections.
