With more than 200 stalls, speakers, interactive sections, workshops, investors and participants India’s largest Startup Conference started, at JRC Convention Center on Saturday. The two-day fest was inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary IT, Telangana Government.

Entrepreneurs shared inspiring interactive stories about their enterprises and business experiences. About 4000 participants in the fest with many upcoming entrepreneurs and MBA students benefited from these sessions. Nikhil Chowdary, Technical Head, Design and Prototyping Centre explained the uses of the 3D printing objects in various fields, such as medicine, developing models and things, which are comparatively low with the current procedures and feasible costs.


Explaining details about the project, he said, “We collaborated with LV Prasad Eye Institute for the training programme called ‘Design for Additive Manufacturing’ (DFAM). The research programme helps in lowering the cost by 20 to 30 per cent of the current ocular prosthesis. It also takes less time compared to the present usual process, so that the patient is benefited more.”

The 15 week online entrepreneurship programme, ‘The UpGrad’, selected 200 to 300 students. “This is not just a teaching or preaching class, this is more practical based,” said Phalgun K, one of the founders of the programme. The candidates were given challenges by established entrepreneurs to solve, and also with the guidance classes with the typical case studies, he explained about the programme.


Usha, artist says that her venture ‘Art from Heart’ helps to make art affordable to all sections of people. The money earned on selling these paintings and art structures, which are affordable to all, will be directed to the NGOs who work for women empowerment.

Other startups, included programmes like GEAR, which help the common man function as the bridge between the complainers about civic issues to the government, and ‘Kisanraja’, which is useful for the farmers.


GrabOn’s buzz GrabOn showcased the ‘Buzz Me’ feature - a personalised anytime notification feature for providing coupon users with best deals. This feature can function without the need to register or download any app or plug-in. Moreover, it will also adjust to any browser or interface upgrades, eliminating the need for manual updating and simplifying the user experience.


Speaking about the initiative, Ashok Reddy, Founder and CEO, GrabOn, said, “We understand how busy online users are. They dislike spending too much time searching for redeemable coupons, and roadblocks, such as user privacy issues, browser load time, stickiness, annoying nag of ‘click me’, subscription policy irk them to no end.


This feature will be a life-saver for our users and help them to be on top of their personal life with notifications that would not interrupt their workflow.”
